SUMMARY:The Thursday Social: Maidenhead
DESCRIPTION:We’re heading to the riverside this final Thursday Social in May  — and it’s set to be a good one. \nSet on the banks of the Thames\, this spot has a fantastic outdoor space perfect for those (hopefully!) warm spring evenings\, complete with heaters just in case. If the weather doesn’t play ball\, we’ll be inside keeping things just as lively. \nWe’re starting a little earlier for this one — from 6pm — so we can make the most of the evening light (and hopefully a bit of sunshine). Expect a relaxed evening of drinks\, chat\, and good company. Whether you’re catching up with familiar faces or meeting new members for the first time\, it’s all about easy conversation and a welcoming atmosphere. \nPimm’s in hand? Cold beer? Glass of wine? You choose. \nPlus\, there’s plenty of parking available for those driving\, making it an easy\, stress-free midweek plan. \nBook your spot and join us for a laid-back Thursday evening by the river.

SUMMARY:6 mile Sunday Walk: West Wycombe
DESCRIPTION:Start your spring Sunday feeling refreshed\, connected\, and full of good energy! Join us for a 6-mile circular walk (around 3 hours) through the heart of the Chilterns and the West Wycombe Mausolem — a beautiful route that takes in peaceful beech woodlands\, open countryside\, and stunning ridge-top views. \nIt’s the perfect way to catch up with familiar faces\, meet new ones\, and enjoy some fresh air and conversation along the way. The walk is gently energetic with a few ups and downs\, but nothing too steep — just enough to get the heart pumping and the smiles flowing. \nTime to get together and get outdoors — healthy\, happy\, and sociable.\nThere is always the option to head to the pub for a well deserved drink afterwards. \n

SUMMARY:Mixed Padel Tournament: Maidenhead
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and sociable mixed padel tournament\, designed to get everyone playing\, mingling\, and enjoying a bit of friendly competition. We’ll team up men/women duo’s and rotate games every 20 minutes\, with a total of 90 minutes play on court\, so you’ll get the chance to play with and against different people throughout the tournament. It’s all about mixing things up\, keeping it light\, and making sure everyone has a great time on and off the court. \nWe’ll also be keeping track of points along the way and\, at the end\, we’ll crown our Date in the Diary Mixed Doubles Champions—but don’t worry\, it’s all just a bit of fun. Depending on timings\, we may also finish with a few all-ladies and all-men games to mix things up even more. \nThis event is best suited to those who have played a fair bit of padel before (around level 1+)\, but this is just a guide\, you don’t need to be advanced—just confident enough to keep a rally going and enjoy the game. \nAfter the matches\, we’ll head back to the clubhouse for a well-earned drink—whether that’s a glass of wine or a coffee—so there’s plenty of time to relax\, chat\, and enjoy the social side of the evening. \nJust a great way to meet new people\, get active\, and have some fun. \nPlease note: This tournament is based on mixed doubles play\, which needs equal numbers of men and women. While we’ll do our best to balance this\, pairings may vary depending on final numbers. \n\n

SUMMARY:Chilterns Sunday Hike: Watlington Hill
DESCRIPTION:Sunday Hike | Christmas Common & Watlington Hill \nLooking for a Sunday plan that’s equal parts fresh air\, great views\, and good company? \nJoin us for this beautiful 5-mile circular walk through the stunning Chiltern countryside\, starting from Christmas Common and taking in woodland trails\, peaceful lanes\, and the breathtaking views from Watlington Hill. \nThis walk really offers the best of both worlds — scenic forest paths followed by panoramic hilltop views across the valley. Expect plenty of conversation\, a few laughs along the way\, and a proper sense of achievement by the end. \nThe walk will be led by one of our lovely members\, Debbie\, who knows the route well. However\, please note this is an informal social walk and Debbie is not a professional walking guide\, so we ask everyone attending to take personal responsibility and work together as a group along the route. \nWe’ll provide all attendees with the route map and directions ahead of time\, and we’ll also set up a WhatsApp group the day before so everyone can coordinate easily. \nA couple of important things to note: \n\n\nThe walk is approximately 5 miles and will take around 2 hours 30 minutes \n\n\nThere is one long climb and one shorter steep climb \n\n\nA moderate level of fitness is recommended\, as we’ll be walking at a good pace \n\n\nDogs are very welcome 🐾 (please keep them on a lead where required) \n\n\nThere is parking available at the National Trust car park at Watlington Hill. \nAnd of course\, no Sunday hike is complete without a pub option at the end…After the walk\, we recommend regrouping at The Fox & Hounds for a well-earned drink\, lunch\, or both. \nWhether you come for the countryside\, the social\, or the pub afterwards\, this is the perfect way to spend a Sunday with the group. \nBook your place\, pull on your trainers\, and join us for a feel-good Sunday in the Chilterns.

SUMMARY:Thursday Social: Marlow
DESCRIPTION:Our weekly Thursday get-together heads back to Marlow this week — always one of our most popular socials thanks to its central location and easy-going atmosphere. \nWith summer evenings (hopefully!) now in full swing\, the plan is to meet for riverside drinks in the garden at the Macdonald Compleat Angler and make the most of a warm evening by the water. \nIf the weather has other ideas\, we’ll move things over to the The George and Dragon instead — so either way\, there’ll be good drinks\, good conversation\, and plenty of familiar and new faces to catch up with. \nWhether you’re popping in for one drink or staying all evening\, these socials are all about relaxed conversation and an easy way to meet people midweek. \nBook your spot and we’ll add you to the WhatsApp group where the final venue will be confirmed nearer the time.

SUMMARY:Henley Regatta: Henley on Thames
DESCRIPTION:Time to bring out your best formal summer day attire as Date in the Diary will be at Henley Royal Regatta on the Friday (3rd July) again this year.  Last year was a great success and we enjoyed the rowing\, the atmosphere\, good times together and some fab live music from the Remenham Farm’s legendary Barn Bar – so we are planning that again! \nBuy your event ticket through our website and this grant’s you all-day access to The Barn Bar. We tend to arrive early to enjoy a full afternoon of regatta atmosphere by the river (but you can join us whenever you wish or can). You can enjoy some yummy street food and grab a drink or two from one of the outdoor bars and of course\, watch the rowing action. You welcome to go in and out of the enclosure until 6pm\, so you can go for a wander along the river and really get up close to the rowing action to pop to another bar along the river. The bar is overlooking the river anyway pretty close to the start line.  Once we know numbers\, we’ll book some outside picnic tables. \nStarting at 6pm\, you will be able to experience the magic of the 70s and 80s with live hits from Wonderland Revivals. \nHeadlining this year are The George Michael Singers\, George’s original vocalists who toured and performed with him for over three decades\, delivering a powerful celebration of his greatest hits. Also live on stage\, ABBA Re-Björn\, bringing all the iconic ABBA anthems to really get the party going. Please note from 6pm you won’t be permitted to exit then re-enter the Bar. \nExpect a fun afternoon by the river followed by a night of nostalgia\, glamour and pure disco energy under Barn Bar’s giant party marquee with DJs spinning decade-defining favourites to keep the dance floor full all evening. Book your tickets early for this one. \n

SUMMARY:Walk (or Paddleboard) to Lockdown Lodge: Henley on Thames
DESCRIPTION:Fancy something a little different? \nJoin us for a relaxed Sunday afternoon adventure as we meet at Henley Bridge and take a beautiful riverside walk (around 45 minutes) to The Lockdown Lodge — one of Henley’s best-kept summer secrets. \nSet beside Hambleden Lock\, Lockdown Lodge is a unique pop-up café\, bar and street food spot that only appears for a few weeks each summer before disappearing again. Think riverside drinks\, relaxed summer vibes\, great food and one of those places that feels like you’ve discovered something special. Access is only by foot\, bike or boat\, which makes the journey part of the fun. \nOnce we arrive\, we’ll grab a drink  and if you fancy it\, an optional bite to eat from the street food menu (no reservation — we’ll just rock up and order at the bar and find a spot together). \nFeeling more adventurous? You can also join by paddleboard from Hambleden instead of walking — just let us know after booking if you’d like to do that. \nAfter we’ve soaked up the sunshine and enjoyed Lockdown Lodge\, you can either: \n• walk back to Henley (another lovely 45-minute riverside stroll)\, or \n• if there’s enough interest and subject to numbers\, we’ll see if we can organise a water taxi back. \nA chance to get outside\, meet great people\, enjoy a bit of fun in the sun and visit somewhere that’s only around for six weeks each year. Book yourself on to join us.
