Cookie Policy
Last updated: 28 September 2026
This page explains how Date in the Diary Ltd uses cookies on dateinthediary.com, what each type of cookie does, and how you can change your choices at any time.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your phone, tablet or computer when you visit. They let the site remember things, such as whether you are logged in or which cookie choices you made. Some sites also use similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage. In this policy we call all of these “cookies”.
How we use cookies
We use cookies to:
- make the website work, including logging in to your member account, booking events and paying for tickets or membership;
- remember your cookie choices so we don’t ask you on every page;
- understand how people use the website so we can improve it, but only if you agree; and
- run our newsletter sign-up forms, but only if you agree.
Your choices
When you first visit our website, a banner asks which cookies you are happy for us to use. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the website can’t work without them. Statistics and marketing cookies are only set if you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time using the settings below.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the website, such as logging in or booking, may stop working.
The cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies (always on)
- Member login and account (WordPress and our membership system): keep you logged in to your member account as you move around the website.
- Event booking and checkout: remember the tickets you have chosen while you complete your booking.
- Stripe and SumUp (our payment providers): process your payments securely and help prevent fraud.
- Google reCAPTCHA: protects our forms from spam and automated abuse.
- Cookie consent (cmplz_*): remembers the cookie choices you made, for up to 12 months.
- Website layout (off_canvas_*): remembers whether you have closed a pop-out panel so it doesn’t keep reappearing.
Statistics cookies (only with your consent)
- Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): tells us how visitors use our website, for example which pages are popular and how people find us. The information is collected in a way that does not identify you personally, and the cookies last for up to 2 years.
Marketing cookies (only with your consent)
- Mailchimp (mcforms-*): runs our newsletter sign-up forms and remembers whether you have already seen or closed a sign-up pop-up.
Third-party services
Some of these cookies are set by other companies that provide services to us. You can find out how they use your information in their own privacy policies: Google, Stripe, SumUp and Mailchimp.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date.
