What better way to spend a Sunday than completing the Thames Path walk from Marlow to Henley-on-Thames. Come on now, you have always wanted to do this right?
We have 2 options:
1. Meet in Marlow at 10am, with the option to arrive a little earlier and enjoy a pre-walk coffee if you wish. From there, we’ll follow the Thames Path through stunning countryside and follow the Thames Path along one of the most beautiful stretches of the river Thames. Now sadly, there is a small issue, the bridge is still down at Temple and the ferry we were hoping to hop on to get us across the river – is no longer running. So this does mean there is a bit of a detour along the road adding another mile onto the journey!
2. Meet at Hurley Lock 11.30am – you can either park here and meet us OR uber it from Marlow if you don’t want to have your car at Hurley
From Hurley Lock and the pretty riverside village of Hurley we will all join the Thames Path and continue past Culham Court and through Aston. Later highlights include Hambleden Lock and its impressive weir, views of historic Hambleden Mill, Temple Island and the famous Henley Royal Regatta course.
This walk is about 9.5 miles with the detour from Marlow (yes you can do it, its all flat), and 6 from Hurley so we plan break it up, after around the two or three hours mark, and to stop for a refreshment break at The Flower Pot Pub in Aston. We’ll then complete the final stretch into Henley, where we can celebrate with a well-earned lunch (yummy Sunday Lunch?) and drink at The Little Angel. Y
The walk itself should take approximately 4.5 hours from Marlow and 2.5 hours from Hurley, excluding our drink stop. Please wear suitable footwear and dress for the weather. Bringing water and a small snack is also recommended.
This is a linear walk. From Henley, you can return to Marlow on the direct 850 bus or travel by train or take an uber back to Hurley or direct to Marlow. Please check your preferred return journey before setting out.
