Marlow or Henley-on-Thames – you choose!
We’re putting something a little different in the diary for the August Bank Holiday weekend: a fun, sociable bar/pub trail taking place in two locations — Marlow and Henley-on-Thames.
As Date in the Diary has grown, a traditional pub crawl with one large group simply doesn’t work. It can be difficult to get into venues, tricky to order at the bar and almost impossible to speak to anyone beyond the people standing beside you! So instead, we’re planning a more sociable version designed to get everyone mixing.
Each location will have a maximum of approximately 20 people. You’ll be divided into smaller teams of around six to eight and given a paper-based trail to guide you between a selection of bars and pubs.
At different points along the route, we’ll mix up the teams so that you spend time with different people. This should keep the groups small enough to find space in each venue, and, most importantly, give everyone a proper chance to chat and get to know one another.
Expect a relaxed late afternoon flowing into the evening of drinks, conversation and a little Bank Holiday adventure. Whether you choose the riverside charm of Marlow or the lively atmosphere of Henley, it should be a great opportunity to catch up with familiar faces and meet some new ones. There is definitely live music going on in each town so the final destination will involve that.
There’s no pressure to drink alcohol — you’re very welcome to follow the trail and enjoy whatever takes your fancy at each stop.

Group size: Approximately 20 people per location, travelling in smaller groups of six to eight
